Quiz of the day - what does the term ATM stand for? If you say Always Take Money ,
you are ... wrong! It stands for Automated Teller Machine , but of course you are right because
most of the times, we use an ATM machine to take out money. Are you looking to withdraw money in the Chicago
metropolitan area? Welcome to the Find An ATM digest. Chicago Metro | | Chicago Metro: Find A Chicagoland Bank's ATMYou can use your own bank's ATM without any service fee.
Check the Offer column for the benefits of having your bank's ATM card.
Your bank should have an ATM machine in each of its branches. For your convenience, it may have ATM machines in additional standalone locations.
Check the Bank ATMs column for all ATM locations of your bank in the Chicagoland area.
If you use a different bank's ATM, you usually have to pay a surcharge fee to that other bank.
However if your bank has joined an AMT network, the number of ATMs you can withdraw money increases drastically,
you can withdraw almost everywhere in the Chicago metropolitan area, and you don't have to pay a surcharge fee
when you use an in-network ATM. Check the ATM Networks column to see what ATM network your bank has joined.
Remember to check your particular bank's or credit union's ATM policy. In some rare cases, it may differ from the main corporate one as shown above. Last update: 09/24/22 |
| | Beyond Metro | | Beyond Metro: Find A Credit Card's ATMYou can conveniently take money out from any ATM machine using your credit card.
WARNING: this should be a convenience of last resort. You will
get cash fast but this is not your cash. When you make a cash withdrawal using your credit
card at an ATM, you are borrowing from the credit card company. As you already know, this
is called a cash advance . Unless you use your bank's own ATM or the bank's in-network ATM, you will be charged an ATM surcharge fee. Then the credit card company will add on a cash advance fee, and an optional over-the-limit fee. Then the clock starts ticking right away. When you use your credit card for purchase, you have a grace period to repay, usually 21 days. There is no grace period for cash advance. The accrued interest starts from the day of the withdrawal. Furthermore, the interest rate for cash advances is much higher than the rate you pay for traditional purchases.
Please check your credit card for your particular cash advance fee, credit limit and cash advance limit (which
is different from the credit limit). Last update: 08/01/22 |
| | | Beyond Metro: Find A Surcharge-Free ATMMany credit unions, smaller banks and online banking firms put an emphasis on joining
surchage-free ATM networks to allow their customers to withdraw money without paying a surchage
fee, and access more ATMs across the nation than what these financial institutions can provide by themselves (or at all in the case of online banking).
Your ATM or debit cards will show the
logos of the supported surcharge-free ATM networks, from none (not supported), one or many.
Use the ATM Locator column to find the supported in-network ATMs nearest you.
Check your ATM or debit card policy about using the supported surcharge-free ATM networks.
Benefits and restrictions can differ vastly between cards.
